The top-ranked Kansas men's basketball team played a fiery first half and then held on against No. 9 North Carolina's best in the second half to survive its latest blue blood battle, 92-89 at Allen Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The win moved KU to 2-0 and pulled Kansas coach Bill Self into a tie with legendary KU coach Phog Allen for most wins at Kansas at 590.
Next up, KU will travel to Atlanta to take on Michigan State in the Champions Classic.
