Kansas City, Missouri — On Wednesday night, the Kansas women's soccer team pushed its winning streak to a season-best 5 games and in doing so advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Conference tournament.

The 6th-seeded Jayhawks (10-5-4) will now face No. 3 seed West Virginia at 8 p.m. Saturday night with a spot in the semifinals on the line.

The fact that Kansas is in this position to begin with is a pretty remarkable story. Picked in the preseason to finish in a tie for 12th place in the 16-team conference, the Jayhawks got hot late and easily made their way into the 12-team tournament.

On Wednesday night, they made sure to stick around for a while with goals from all-Big 12 picks Lexi Watts and Caroline Castans moving the Jayhawks past Arizona State by the score of 2-1 for the second time this season.

Here's a look back at some of Wednesday's action, which came at CPKC Stadium, home of the Kansas City Current and the only stadium in the world built exclusively for a women's professional sports team. That fact and their place in the growth of the women's game in this country was not lost on the Jayhawks as they prepared to play in this week's tourney.
