• Kansas dished out 25 assists on 35 FGM. The 25 assists were the team’s most in an NCAA Tournament game since March 16, 2007 vs. Niagara (29 assists).
• Kansas outscored Samford in the paint 54-24. The 54 points in the paint are the second-most of the season (58 vs. Chaminade). Kansas scored 54 points in the paint against Howard last year in its first round NCAA Tournament victory.
• Kansas scored 93 points, which is its third-most of the season. The Jayhawks scored 99 points each against NC Central and Manhattan in the first two games of the season. Kansas has scored 90+ points in five games this season and is 5-0 in those games.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Senior Hunter Dickinson posted a 19-point, 20-rebound double-double and added five assists, four blocks and two steals. Dickinson’s 20 boards tie for the third-most by a Jayhawk in an NCAA Tournament game (Cole Aldrich, 2009 and Drew Gooden, 2002). Dickinson recorded his fourth 20-rebound game of the season, moving him to third all-time in 20-plus rebound games in Kansas history.
• Dickinson became the first NCAA player since at least 1996-97 to have 20 rebounds, 5 assists and multiple blocks in an NCAA Tournament game.
• Junior KJ Adams posted a team-high 20 points on 10-13 (76.9 percent) shooting, while dishing out six assists and pulling down four rebounds. Adams recorded back-to-back 20-point games for the first time in his career. Adams’ 10 made field goals are a new career high.
• Graduate Nicolas Timberlake posted a season-high 19 points and went 3-of-6 (50.0 percent) from beyond the arc.
• Freshman Johnny Furphy added 16 points and eight boards. It marks the fourth time this season Furphy has had at least 16 points and eight rebounds in a game.
• Senior Dajuan Harris Jr. scored 13 points and dished out seven assists. Harris went 6-of-6 from the free throw line, marking the first time this season he has been perfect from the stripe with at least five attempts.
