It’s been a wild week of comings and goings for the Kansas football program, extending from players entering the transfer portal all the way up to reports of high-ranking members of Lance Leipold’s staff moving on.

On Friday, it was reported that offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes was in conversations about becoming the OC at Wisconsin. And rumors were swirling about KU possibly replacing both its OC (Grimes) and defensive coordinator Brian Borland this offseason.

That will all play out in time and there will be plenty of time to write about what happens there and how it might impact the program.

One thing we know will impact the program, which was BY FAR the biggest news to hit Kansas football on Friday, is the planned return of quarterback Jalon Daniels for the 2025 season.

Daniels announced his decision to come back to KU for one more season on Twitter, noting that he was “not done yet” and that he was looking forward to leading the program that was his foundation as a football player.

No matter how you feel about JD6 and his injury-plagued time at Kansas, this is massive news for the Jayhawks. Not only does it give them one of the most experienced and talented quarterbacks in the country behind center next season, but it also gives KU a clear direction and should help immensely as the Jayhawks mine the transfer portal to find replacements for the large senior class that said goodbye this season.

We’ll have more reaction to Daniels’ decision — what it means, why it’s good and more — in the days to come.

But here’s a look at the official announcement from JD6, which was first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
