The answer to the question, "Who will start in KJ Adams' place," with the senior forward out for Saturday's game against Kansas State was revealed about 20 minutes before tipoff on Saturday.
Freshman Flory Bidunga gets the nod, presumably over wing options Rylan Griffen and AJ Storr.
On Friday, KU coach Bill Self said he had the answer narrowed down to 3 players. He didn't expand on that thought, but it was likely those three.
Bidunga got the call, though, most likely because of both his size and his consistent energy and effort.
The KU freshman has appeared in all 16 games for KU so far this season, but Saturday marked his first career start. He entered the game averaging 6.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game.
We'll check back in after the game to see how it went. It's certainly a risk, given that KU has no real depth at the 5 on the bench behind Dickinson and Bidunga. But it also probably presents KU with its best lineup to open the game.
